Calea zacatechichi (dreamherb)

Calea dream herb is also known as 'dog grass' or Calea zacatechichi ("bitter grass"). The shrub belongs to the sunflower family and grows naturally in the Mexican highlands and certain parts of Costa Rica. Calea zacatechichi measures 1 - 1.5 m in height. The plant has many branches with oviform and opposite leaves (3-5 cm long and 2-4 cm wide).

It is used by the Chontal Indians of Mexico to obtain divinatory messages during dreaming and in Mexican folk medicine as an aperitif and to improve the natural metabolism. Indians have been naming calea 'leaf of God'. It is valued for its ability to clear the senses, to induce visions in dreams and as a healing plant in general. Shamans use the herb to receive divine messages in their dreams. Ordinary people in Mexico use it to increase appetite and health product that supports among other things a natural digestion.

Calea ha un effetto calmante. L'effetto psychoactivo è sottile e può essere descritto come un sogno. Gli indiani messicani considerano il Calea come allucinogene, anche se nessun alkoloid allucinogeno ancora è stato isolato.

“I read about this stuff on www.calea-zacatechichi.com, and bought a bit from this site. It tasted TERRIBLE when I made the tea, but the dreams were worth it. If you can't handle the taste, smoking it was pretty enjoyable too.”

“I tried to make tea yesterday. Me and a friend made 2 cups out of 10-15 grams. We put the leaves in water for 5 minutes or so. It was the most disgusting taste we ever tasted, even with honey.
Maybe we left it in the water for too long, or didn't add enough water, but we both drank 1 sip and flushed the rest.

Strangely enough i had really really bizarre "dreams", just before i fell asleep. My room seemed to change chapes, and the door seemed to move.

I am curious what will happen if i drink 1 cup :D”
